Full-term fixed braces
There are basically two types of braces in this category. You have your conventional style braces which are fixed to the front of the teeth. These can either be metal or ceramic with tooth coloured wiring. Alternatively you have your lingual braces. Accelerated orthodontic treatments work by concentrating their efforts only on the front upper and lower teeth which are visible when you smile. Because they aren’t dealing with more complex problems such as bite alignment issues, results are achieved quickly (usually within 6 months or less). Invisalign aligners for example are a series of clear plastic appliances that are placed over the teeth just like a gum shield. Each aligner in the series is designed to move the teeth a tiny amount and then it’s changed for the next one in the series. Because removable braces aren’t in place all the time, the patient has a little more freedom. That said, for best results both the Inman Aligner and Invisalign need to be worn for at least 20 hours a day.
