Fast Orthodontic Treatment – Secret Smiles VS 6 Month Smiles

As a smile dentist in Manchester, we often fit patients with braces. Usually one of the first questions a patient asks is ‘how long do I have to wear it for?’ As adults, in particular, it seems that we want a great looking smile, but we want it fast. The good news is, that with modern advances in orthodontics, Manchester patients can have straighter teeth in a matter of weeks not years!

This is all thanks to the fast orthodontic treatment systems that are available today such as Secret Smiles, Six Months Smiles and C-Fast. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at what two of our most popular speedy braces have to offer, Secret Smiles and 6 Month Smiles.

Both 6 Month Smiles and Secret Smiles promise fast and quick results in as little as 6 months. So what sets these two brace systems apart?

Well, the main difference is that Secret Smiles is a lingual brace that’s completely invisible because it’s fitted to the inside of your teeth. 6 Month Smiles, while still very discreet, uses tooth coloured brackets and wires on the front of your teeth. So it really depends on your preference.

Firstly, what are Secret Smile Braces?

Secret Smile braces is a modern teeth straightening system. What’s great is that it’s fitted to that back of your teeth, meaning that it’s completely invisible. As the name itself suggests, it could be your ‘secret’ to a great smile. These braces are custom made for each patient and use gentle light pressure to achieve the required tooth movements. You may often hear this brace also being referred to as a ‘lingual brace’ because this means ‘on the side towards the tongue.’

We find that this system is a particularly popular choice for people who have busy social lives or work in front of the public. In fact, lingual braces are even used by celebrities, two examples are Miley Cyrus and Kate Middleton.

Who can wear Secret Smile braces?

The good news is that when it comes to orthodontics, Manchester dentists can correct many different problems using Secret Smiles. Issues include overcrowded teeth, closing spaces between teeth, alignment of the gum line and treating protruded teeth.

They can be worn by anyone with mild to moderate teeth problems, so if you want the results of a fixed brace but without the visibility of metal wires, then this may be a great option to consider. By having a consultation with our Secret Smile dentist, Manchester patients can find out for certain whether or not they’re a good candidate for this particular treatment.

What exactly are 6 Month Smiles?

6 Month Smiles is a barely visible brace that uses tooth coloured brackets and wires. Unlike Secret Smiles, it’s fixed onto the front surface of your teeth instead. What’s great about this brace is that it offers all the benefits of wearing a traditional brace but is 75% quicker and of course far less visible than metal wires and brackets all at the same time.  So if you’re looking for fast orthodontic treatment, the good news is that the average treatment time is approximately 6 months. It works in a similar way to Secret Smiles in that this system only applies very light forces on the teeth. This means that they need to be adjusted and tightened less than conventional braces and are more comfortable to wear. As a result, patients can expect quick and convenient appointments.

Who can wear 6 Month Smiles?

6 Month Smiles can be used to treat a variety of issues, like overcrowding and closing gaps between the teeth. It can also be used to treat teeth that overlap too much, if the front or lower teeth stick out too far or if the teeth bite on the wrong side of each other. It’s also possible to correct misplaced mid-lines. This is when the centre lines of the upper and lower teeth don’t align properly.

How do they both work so fast?

Good question!

The simple answer is because these braces are only designed to straighten just the front six teeth instead of the full arch. In other words, it focuses only on improving the teeth that are most visible when you smile. With fast orthodontic treatment, it means you don’t have to face the long traditional treatment times of 18 months -2 years, especially if you only want a great looking smile without treating your bite. On average, treatments take between 6-9 months. So with both braces using the latest methods in orthodontics, Manchester patients can now move their teeth safely but quickly.

As you can see, braces have come a long way in the last decade and with these two modern advances in orthodontics, Manchester residents no longer have to suffer from low self-confidence over their smile.

Orthodontic Manchester Treatment – Understanding Teeth Braces

When you’re told you might need orthodontic Manchester treatment it can seem pretty daunting and you’ll probably want a lot more information before deciding whether or not to go ahead. For instance, we’re frequently answering questions such as “Does wearing braces in Manchester hurt?” or “How long does Invisalign Manchester take to work?” That said we know that having a good understanding of how teeth braces work and how they can help you, makes the process much less daunting and can better prepare you for your orthodontic journey towards a healthier smile. With this in mind, here are some of the most common FAQ’s answered.

Is there an ideal age for orthodontic treatment?

Chronologically speaking there is no specific age when it’s best to get braces. The fact is that whether you’re nine or ninety, teeth can be moved at any age with the right treatment. That said, adult teeth may take slightly longer to move because they have denser bone mass and a lower metabolic rate and there are certain things that cannot be accomplished once the jaw stops fully growing. Therefore children between the ages of ten and fifteen are considered the best age to incorporate any early orthodontic intervention, but adults can still benefit greatly.

Does wearing teeth braces hurt?

With advancements in technology orthodontic braces in Manchester have been made smaller and are more comfortable than their predecessors. For example, with Invisalign, Manchester patients get to wear invisible lightweight aligners which are designed to be fully removable. This is in contrast to the heavier metal style braces of old which were permanently attached to the teeth. As such, problems such as catching on the tongue and rubbing on the gum are now pretty much eradicated. That said, where patients may feel some slight discomfort is when the braces have just been adjusted or (in the case of Invisalign) a new aligner fitted. This usually lasts for a few days only and can normally be brought under control using over-the-counter painkillers.

How long does orthodontic Manchester treatment last?

Orthodontic treatment in Manchester varies from one patient to another depending on the severity of their condition. As a result, there is no set time. In cases where a patient has a slight aesthetic problem with their smile such as a crooked or unevenly spaced front tooth, then they may only need fast or accelerated orthodontic treatment. In this case, it may take as little as 6-12 weeks. Conversely, if a patent has more severe malocclusions then treatment can take 2-3 years. Generally speaking, for short-term treatment the average is 4-6 months and for longer term treatment the average wear time is 18 months.

Can I eat a normal diet?

In essence, the answer is yes, but you may want to avoid certain hard or sticky foods. Sticky foods such as toffee can cause damage because it can stick to your tooth braces and cause tooth decay. Whereas harder foods such as boiled sweets, raw carrots, and ice cubes have been known to break teeth braces. In addition, avoiding foods which are high in sugar is a good idea because plaque can get lodged in between the braces making it harder to reach with a normal toothbrush. As a result in some cases, tooth decay can occur. That said, braces such as the Inman Aligner and Invisalign Manchester are designed to be removed every time you eat and drink. This means that wearers can continue to eat what they like provided they brush their teeth before placing the aligner back in the mouth.

How often do I need to visit the orthodontist once treatment is underway?

Once your braces in Manchester have been fitted you can expect to return to the practice every 4-6 weeks for adjustment. Even with removable aligners such as Invisalign, which are replaced every two weeks by the patient, they can still expect to return to the practice periodically for progress checks to ensure that teeth are moving where and how they should be. This way any problems or issues can be addressed early on before they become complicated to fix.

Do I have to wear a mouthful of metal?

The good news is that orthodontic Manchester treatment has evolved over the past decade or so and nowadays orthodontic manufacturers recognise the need for discretion. After all, not everyone wants to be seen sporting a mouth full of metal. Appliances such as lingual braces which are worn behind the teeth and the clear acrylic nature of Invisalign means that in these cases, the only people needing to know about your braces is you and your orthodontist. Ceramic braces using tooth coloured brackets and wiring are also popular and can help eradicate that metal smile.

So can I lead a normal life?

Absolutely yes! Modern day braces in Manchester allow you to do exactly that. There’s nothing to stop people from leading a normal healthy life as you should still be able to exercise and play a sport. That said for certain contact sports such as rugby or American football, it’s advisable for patients to wear a mouth guard. In addition (especially with removable braces) patients are advised to clean their teeth after every meal. However aside from that there really shouldn’t be a problem.

Will I need a retainer after treatment?

Yes! Retainers are an integral part of the overall treatment and they continue to keep the teeth straight once treatment is complete. Moreover, they help the muscles and tissues adapt to the new position so that the teeth don’t revert to their previous form. Depending on the degree and seriousness of your condition, your retainer may at first have to be worn permanently for several months, but after a period of time, it may only need to be worn on some occasions at night. Either way, your orthodontist will advise you on the best course of action when your treatment is coming to an end, so don’t worry!

How An Orthodontist Manchester Helps Restore Your Smile

If you’re looking for, or have been referred to an orthodontist in Manchester to help you improve your smile, you may be wondering how they can do that. The fact is that brace systems, when worn for a measured period of time, can dramatically improve your smile. Manchester patients, for example, will want to choose an orthodontic appliance that fits in with their needs/requirements and/or lifestyle. This is understandable and may be something as discreet as clear invisible braces or something as speedy as Inman Aligner braces. However, whatever system a patient chooses, they’ll be pleased to know that with the right amount of cooperation from them (the patient), and assistance from us (the dentist), they’re guaranteed a much-improved smile.

While that might be all well and good, how exactly does the process work?

Consultation

When you’re ready to take the next step towards getting straighter teeth you’ll meet with our orthodontist. During the consultation, Dr. Karim and the team will look at your dental history along with the current condition of your teeth. This will determine the best type of brace system you need. This may be a fast short-term treatment for patients, looking to simply improve the aesthetics of their smile, through to longer full term treatments for those with moderate to major bite problems.

Fitting

Once the orthodontist has decided on the tools that are going to improve a smile, Manchester patients need to meet the team again for fitting. This is usually carried out several weeks later when the appliance has been made. If it’s a fixed brace system such as lingual braces, ceramic braces, or speedy treatments like C-fast, then it will need to be attached permanently for the duration of the treatment. This is done by gluing small brackets to either the outside (or in the case of lingual braces to the inside of the teeth) and threading self-tensioning wiring through each bracket. The whole process is pain-free and takes between 1-2 hours depending upon the type of appliance. Conversely, if your treatment consists of removable aligner-style appliances such as Invisalign or Inman aligner braces you’ll be shown how to fit and remove them yourself.

Adjusting

Every so often patients can expect to come back to our orthodontist in Manchester to have their braces adjusted. For the first few days, they may feel some pressure on their teeth but that soon wears off. However, our orthodontic team will also want to ensure that your brace is doing the job it’s supposed to do and has started to move your teeth. If not, further adjustments may have to be made. For those who have removable braces, they’ll still need to visit the team regularly to check for progress.

Removal

After a few months (or in the case of some full term treatments, a few years) once the orthodontic team is satisfied with the results, your braces are finally removed. Again this is a painless process, although patients may feel a little pressure as the brackets are removed to reveal a straighter arch of teeth. In the case of removable braces, the brace is removed by the patient for the last time to reveal the same results.

6 Month Smiles Manchester – Fast Orthodontics At It's Best!

6 Month Smiles Manchester – Fast Orthodontics At It’s Best!

People often seek an orthodontist Manchester if they suffer problems with their teeth or jaws. In many cases they deal with children, however a growing number of adults are also seeking advice from our orthodontics Manchester team because they aren’t entirely happy with their smile.  Usually this isn’t because they have a major dental problem but more because they aren’t happy with the way that their teeth look when they smile.

They might for instance have a slightly gapped or flared tooth or a slight misalignment which hinders their perfect smile. In these cases our team may suggest a quick-fix solution known as 6 month smiles. Manchester patients can probably guess that this particular orthodontic appliance is designed to correct problematic teeth in approximately six months. This being the case, then aside from the time frame, how do they work and how do they differ from longer full-term treatments? Let’s take a closer look…

Similarly to long term treatments, Six Month Smiles utilises a series of titanium brackets and wires which work together to apply sustained and gentle force to move teeth. Over a period of time the teeth are pushed or pulled back into position. Where they differ from many full-term treatments is that they’re designed to move only the upper and lower front teeth that are visible when you smile.  When you seek advice from an orthodontist Manchester they will tell you that fast orthodontic treatments such as Six Month Smiles place their emphasis on the cosmetic appearance of the teeth rather than the function of the bite. Therefore if you have bite (malocclusion) problems that need addressing you’ll probably be better off opting for full/long-term treatments such as clear-fixed ceramic braces or invisible braces such as Invisalign. Conversely if you have mild teeth issues and are simply concerned with the aesthetics of your smile, then quick fix solutions such as 6 Month Smiles Manchester offer the perfect solution.

Dispelling a myth…

You may think that this type of orthodontics in Manchester involves applying greater pressure or the extreme ‘tightening’ of regular braces to get the teeth moving quicker. However this is far from the truth. Instead Six Month Smiles utilises standard orthodontic mechanics to gently move teeth, except that the emphasis is on the positioning of the teeth rather obtaining full bite function. For this reason they’re as comfortable, if not more so, than conventional full-term braces.

If you’re unhappy with your smile and are looking for an orthodontist Manchester to help, then come and talk to us about 6 month smiles. Manchester-based Church Road Dental and Cosmetics are your one stop dental practice for all your dental issues, so why not book a consultation with Shi Karim and the team today. Orthodontics Manchester – How Do Braces Straighten Teeth?

Orthodontics Manchester – How Do Braces Straighten Teeth?

If you’re in need of teeth straightening, Manchester dental practices specialising in orthodontics in Manchester can help. At our smiles dental Manchester office for example, we offer a wide range of treatments designed to help realign teeth. These include fast or accelerated orthodontic treatments such as C-Fast, Secret Smiles, and Six Month Smiles through to lengthier full-term treatments such as ceramic braces, lingual braces, and Invisalign aligners. While you don’t have to look far to find information about each individual treatment, it’s more difficult to find information on how braces actually work. With this in mind, let’s take a closer look.

The first thing to note is that despite the many different orthodontic appliances available they all perform the same function and that is to straighten teeth using applied gentle force. Although there are some subtle differences in the way that this is done, generally speaking appliances are either fixed to the teeth or placed over the teeth  to force them to move/turn/grow in the right direction. So how is this achieved?

Fixed appliances

Fixed orthodontic treatments are what most people would recognise as traditional braces. These are fixed to the teeth for the duration of the treatment and consist of four elements.

  • Brackets
  • Bonding material
  • Arch wire
  • Ligature elastic/O Ring

Firstly our smiles dental Manchester team will help you choose the right brace system to suit your needs and/or requirements. Once you’re happy, then small brackets are attached to each tooth using a  special type of bonding material. These can either be coloured or silver in the form of conventional braces, or ceramic tooth coloured for discretion. Alternatively, in the case of lingual braces, they can also be attached to the back of the teeth.

Next an arch wire is attached. This runs from bracket to bracket and is used to apply sustained gentle pressure on the teeth which in turn encourages them to move/twist back into the right direction.

Finally a small coloured piece of elastic known as a ligature or O ring holds the arch wire onto each bracket. The elastic ligature can be adjusted to help the arch wire to apply greater pressure in a certain position and is usually carried out by the dentist during a visit if necessary, although with some types of teeth straightening, Manchester appliances utilise O rings that can adjust of their own accord. These are known as self litigating braces. As pressure is adjusted and tweaked accordingly, the teeth respond and will eventually become straighter.

Removable orthodontics Manchester

As opposed to fixed brace treatments, removable orthodontics are designed to be easily removed by that patient during periods of eating, drinking, and cleaning the teeth. It’s suggested that it gives the wearer better dental hygiene because there is zero chance of food particles becoming trapped; but also, it gives the user greater control (within reason) over when they wear them. Treatments such as Invisalign aligners are one such appliance. So how do they work?

Just to complicate matters, Invisalign aligner treatment doesn’t rely on just one appliance for the duration of the treatment. Instead it involves a whole series of appliances/aligners (sometimes as many as 48 over a 2-3 year period). Each aligner is made from clear acrylic and is designed to be worn over the teeth like an invisible gum shield for a short period of time (approximately 2 weeks). As the first aligner is worn, it’s been made to fit snugly over the teeth forcing them to move a fraction of a position (usually around 1/10mm). After two weeks, the teeth should have moved sufficiently so the first aligner is discarded and the next one in the series is worn which moves the teeth a little more. The whole process is repeated again and again every two weeks until eventually, the teeth have reached the desired position.

As you can see, both types or orthodontic appliance have the ability to move teeth using sustained and gentle force, but it can be achieved in different ways. Adult Braces In Manchester – Are They Worth It?

Adult Braces In Manchester – Are They Worth It?

While many people know children who are currently wearing braces to help correct a bite or straighten teeth, not many people know of other adults who are in the same position. That’s because adult braces in Manchester have been developed extensively in recent years, yet are still relatively unknown. With this in mind, if you’re not entirely happy with your teeth, are adult braces Manchester the way forward? Our Smile dentist Manchester explains……

Provided the right type of orthodontic appliance is used, adult brace systems can treat a wide variety of problems. These include, malocclusions, overcrowding, crooked or flared teeth, and cross bites to name a few. That said, not every appliance is able to treat every treatment and appliances can either be classed as fast (in the case of accelerated orthodontics or slow (in the case of full-term treatments). Because of this you’ll need an experienced orthodontist who will decide on a particular type of appliance that will cure your dental problem and fit in with your requirements.

For instance, if you have an annoying gap in your teeth that’s visible when you smile but your remaining teeth and gums are healthy, you might want to try using accelerated braces in Manchester. These are quick-fire treatments that can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. Treatments such as C-Fast, Secret Smiles, and Six Month Smiles are considered some of the most popular, although there are many others.

Alternatively if you have relapsed teeth because you didn’t wear a retainer as a child after having conventional orthodontic braces, your dentist might suggest Inman Aligner braces. Manchester  patients will be pleased to know that like other fast treatments, they can take a little as a few weeks to correct any problem.

What about if you have larger underlying problems such as a bad bite or crooked back teeth? Your dentist may suggest full term treatments including conventional metal or ceramic braces. For that added discretion patients have an option of lingual braces which are attached to the back of the teeth rather than the front, or Invisalign removable aligners.

Despite the various types, any smile dentist in Manchester will tell you that all orthodontic treatment straightens teeth using the same principle. This is to apply sustained gentle force using either retainers or wiring to move the teeth back into position

For those who really care about how they look, particularly in regard to their smile, adult braces Manchester are definitely worth it. They can ether be used as a quick-fix, aesthetic solution in the form of fast orthodontic treatment, or a long-term holistic solution. Either way, braces in Manchester have the ability to improve lives and boost confidence and that in many respects makes them life changing.

6 Month Smiles Manchester – What Exactly Does It Entail?

6 Month Smiles Manchester – What Exactly Does It Entail?

So you’ve read the odd lingual braces blog, or sought advice on Invisalign aligners and now feel that you need an orthodontic treatment that’s reasonably priced and delivers quicker results – something like 6 month smiles. Manchester practices will know that as a fast or accelerated orthodontics Manchester treatment it’s particularly popular; so what exactly is it and how does it work?

As the name suggests Six Month Smiles is a type of orthodontic brace that’s designed to straighten teeth within 6 months or less. It works on the same bracket and wire principle that many other brace systems have, but instead of taking 12-18 months to achieve results, short term orthodontics such as these take considerably less time. They’re discreet, comfortable to wear, and competitively priced.

As with all accelerated or fast brace treatments however, there is a trade-off. If you wear full-term orthodontic devices such as conventional braces, lingual braces, and clear aligners such as Invisalign, then over a period of time, they’ll straighten ALL teeth no matter where they’re positioned in the mouth. On the contrary with 6 month smiles, Manchester patients will need to understand that braces such as these can only straighten the front upper and lower teeth which are visible when you smile. What’s more, orthodontics Manchester treatment involving short term systems can’t correct underlying problems such as tooth root alignment either. As a result they won’t suit everyone.

So who are 6 month smiles in Manchester good for?

They’re ideal for those adults whose teeth are in relatively good condition and whose bite function is normal. Six Month Smiles are perfect for those looking for a quick aesthetic solution to their crooked teeth and who aren’t concerned about correcting any underlying issues. This is either because they don’t have any, or they need a quick-fix solution. Candidates may be people who have an event looming and they need/want to look their best. This could be a family gathering such as a wedding or engagement, a job interview, an upcoming vacation, or even a date. In this respect accelerated braces treatments are perfect because they offer the fast solution that the patient craves.

So who are they not for?

Patients with underlying bite problems won’t benefit from 6 month smiles Manchester treatment. Nor will those looking for complete restorations, including tooth root alignment, or those with posterior molar problems. These patients are better suited to full term orthodontics such as those you may have heard about when reading a lingual braces blog.

The bottom line is that there is an orthodontics Manchester treatment available for every condition. It’s your dentist’s job to match the right treatment to the person and their requirements/needs. Whether that’s 6 Month Smiles, Manchester, Invisalign, or lingual braces, we can help. Call us on 0161 660 1218 to book a consultation today.

Teeth Straightening Manchester – What Are The Methods Used?

Teeth Straightening Manchester – What Are The Methods Used?

If you’re seeking teeth straightening in Manchester it pays to speak to an orthodontic Manchester practice. At our smiles dental Manchester clinic we know how to match the right treatment with your needs and/or requirements. With this in mind, what are the types of treatment used?

Fast orthodontics

Otherwise known as accelerated or short-term orthodontics, fast orthodontic treatments are designed to focus their attention on the upper and lower front teeth which are visible when you smile. Treatment times range from a few weeks through to six months and are perfect for those looking for an aesthetic, quick fix solution. Brands such as Six Month Smiles, C-Fast, Secret Smiles and the removable Inman Aligner are perfect examples of quick orthodontic Manchester treatments.

Removable Aligners

While the majority of brace systems are permanently attached to the teeth for the duration of the treatment, there are a few which are specifically designed to be removed by the patient on a daily basis. Orthodontic appliances such as the Inman Aligner and Invisalign allow the patient to remove them for specific tasks such as eating, drinking, and brushing the teeth. This is done to maintain better oral hygiene, but it also means that the patient has the freedom to choose when and where they wear them. Removable aligners can ether be short term treatments (in the case of the Inman Aligner) or full term treatments (in the case of Invisalign).

Full term brace systems

When it comes to teeth straightening, Manchester patients may be looking for a longer term treatment to fully restore both the function and aesthetics of their bite. With this in mind, it’s possible to choose from a wide range of what are known as ‘full-term’ treatments. These include traditional metal ‘bracket and wiring’ style braces, discreet ceramic-style braces, lingual braces which are worn at the back of the teeth, and (as mentioned above) removable Invisalign aligners. Treatments last on average 18 months but can be completed in as little as 12 months or as long as 36 months, depending upon the degree of the problem.

If it sounds a little confusing, then don’t worry. At our Smiles Dental Manchester practice patients are in safe and experienced hands. We’ll help you find the right orthodontic appliance to suit both your needs and requirements. Whether you simply want to straighten your teeth after failing to wear a  previous retainer or are looking for a quick fix solution to correct a crooked tooth, you can count on us. Is Fastest Orthodontic Treatment Always The Best

Is Fastest Orthodontic Treatment Always The Best

In your search for information on the fastest orthodontic treatment you might have come across procedures such as 6 Month Smiles Manchester and the Inman Aligner Manchester and wonder how they stack up against more traditional longer treatments. Let’s take a closer look.

In this day and age it seems that we want everything faster and cheaper. This is true in all areas of life including dentistry. For this reason when products such as 6 Month Smiles and the Inman Aligner arrived on the dental scene, they created quite a buzz. However, are they too good to be true?

Well yes and no!

Yes because they do exactly what they’re designed to do and that’s to straighten teeth within a very limited amount of time; and no, because while that sounds perfect, there’s a caveat.

Any fastest orthodontic treatment, whether it’s 6 Month Smiles, Inman Aligner, or C-Fast for example, will only straighten the front upper and lower teeth which are visible when you smile. The reason for this is that due to the accelerated time scale, quick brace treatments can’t straighten entire rows of teeth, AND deal with the problems of tooth root alignment. This is why most fast systems target the front 6-8 teeth only.

So what does this mean exactly?

For those who are simply concerned with the aesthetics of their smile and are looking for a quick-fix solution, then treatments such as 6 month smiles or the Inman Aligner Manchester work perfectly well. Here’s an example…

Let’s say that you’re a bride to be and are excited about your big day which is looming fast Understandably you want everything to be perfect including your smile. You aren’t overly concerned about the teeth at the back of the mouth because after all, no-one is going to see them. However you are concerned about an unsightly crooked tooth right at the front of your mouth.

In this case you might speak to a local orthodontist about 6 Month Smiles. Manchester-based dental practices who have on-site orthodontists might also recommend other similar treatments such as C-Fast, Secret Smiles, or the Inman Aligner, but the point is, they’re fast and they work! In the case of some accelerated treatments, results can be seen in as little as 6-8 weeks.

Now that’s all well and good and as you can see, there is a market for accelerated brace systems. However for those with more complex conditions, or those who are seeking an overall orthodontic treatment, there are a wide range of longer-term treatments that do the job better. This includes discreet treatments such as lingual braces which are worn on the back of the teeth, or the revolutionary Invisalign Aligner. Both of these treatments are far removed from the traditional bracket and wiring ‘mouth full of metal style’ systems of old. They take a holistic approach to teeth and can deal with that all important bite function as well as the aesthetics of a smile.

So there you have it! If you’re searching for a quick fix solution to improve the aesthetics of your smile, then fastest orthodontic treatment such as 6 month smiles Manchester and the Inman Aligner Manchester work very well. To find out more about speedy or conventional orthodontic treatment contact Church Road Dental and Cosmetics for an appointment. To book yours, call us on 0161 660 1218 today and start the ball rolling towards restoring that perfect smile.

Fastest Orthodontic Treatment – 6 Month Smiles vs Inman Aligner

Fastest Orthodontic Treatment – 6 Month Smiles vs Inman Aligner

There are many situations why you might want to opt for the fastest orthodontic treatment. It could be that you have an upcoming event and want to look your best; or alternatively, you just can’t wait that long using conventional braces to achieve your dream smile. Either way, two of the speedier treatments are the Inman Aligner Manchester and 6 Month Smiles Manchester. Certainly with the latter, the name would suggest a speedy or accelerated treatment; but just how fast are they?

Before we go into the finer details of each treatment it’s worth pointing out that accelerated or fast orthodontic treatments are quick for a reason….

While speedy braces take a fraction of the time to straighten teeth, they have their limits. They can’t for instance straighten the tooth root or correct more complex bite problems. Instead they work by concentrating their actions on the front 6 upper and lower teeth. In other words accelerated treatments are ideal for those wanting a quick-fix solution to gapped or crooked front teeth which are visible when you smile. However anything more than this and long-term braces are usually the answer.

All that said, fast braces are on the rise, so which is the fastest orthodontic treatment?

6 Month Smiles

For those looking for quick smile treatment 6 month smiles would suggest that it takes around 6 months for the brace system to work. In some cases this is true but in many cases 6 months is usually the maximum time it takes. Generally speaking the average treatment time for 6 Month Smiles Manchester is around 5 months. That’s just 20 weeks! 6 month smiles are a traditional bracket and wire brace system. The brackets and wiring are permanently fixed for the duration of your treatment and work together to move teeth back into the desired position. This form of treatment works best for patients with mild alignment problems at the front of the mouth coupled with a great bite at the back.

Inman Aligner

The other candidate for fastest orthodontic treatment is the Inman Aligner. Manchester dentists will often recommend the Inman Aligner because unlike other brace treatments it’s easily and fully removable. In fact it’s only designed to be worn for around 20 hours a day. The fact that you’re supposed to remove it when eating and drinking prevents food particles from becoming trapped. Thus making the Inman Aligner one of the best options for retaining good oral health.

Also unlike 6 Month Smiles treatment it doesn’t operate under the conventional system of brackets and wiring. Instead the aligner uses a series of springs that power two aligner bows. (One at the front of the teeth and one at the back). As one pushes the other pulls, creating a gentle squeeze-effect on the teeth. Treatment time on average takes 6-18 weeks with the average being around 12 weeks or 3 months in length.

As with 6 Month Smiles it won’t be for everyone and successful treatment depends upon the severity of the condition. However assuming that all is equal, it’s safe to say that the fastest orthodontic treatment is most definitely the Inman Aligner with 6 Month Smiles coming a close second.
