Orthodontic Manchester Treatment – Understanding Teeth Braces

When you’re told you might need orthodontic Manchester treatment it can seem pretty daunting and you’ll probably want a lot more information before deciding whether or not to go ahead. For instance, we’re frequently answering questions such as “Does wearing braces in Manchester hurt?” or “How long does Invisalign Manchester take to work?” That said we know that having a good understanding of how teeth braces work and how they can help you, makes the process much less daunting and can better prepare you for your orthodontic journey towards a healthier smile. With this in mind, here are some of the most common FAQ’s answered.

Is there an ideal age for orthodontic treatment?

Chronologically speaking there is no specific age when it’s best to get braces. The fact is that whether you’re nine or ninety, teeth can be moved at any age with the right treatment. That said, adult teeth may take slightly longer to move because they have denser bone mass and a lower metabolic rate and there are certain things that cannot be accomplished once the jaw stops fully growing. Therefore children between the ages of ten and fifteen are considered the best age to incorporate any early orthodontic intervention, but adults can still benefit greatly.

Does wearing teeth braces hurt?

With advancements in technology orthodontic braces in Manchester have been made smaller and are more comfortable than their predecessors. For example, with Invisalign, Manchester patients get to wear invisible lightweight aligners which are designed to be fully removable. This is in contrast to the heavier metal style braces of old which were permanently attached to the teeth. As such, problems such as catching on the tongue and rubbing on the gum are now pretty much eradicated. That said, where patients may feel some slight discomfort is when the braces have just been adjusted or (in the case of Invisalign) a new aligner fitted. This usually lasts for a few days only and can normally be brought under control using over-the-counter painkillers.

How long does orthodontic Manchester treatment last?

Orthodontic treatment in Manchester varies from one patient to another depending on the severity of their condition. As a result, there is no set time. In cases where a patient has a slight aesthetic problem with their smile such as a crooked or unevenly spaced front tooth, then they may only need fast or accelerated orthodontic treatment. In this case, it may take as little as 6-12 weeks. Conversely, if a patent has more severe malocclusions then treatment can take 2-3 years. Generally speaking, for short-term treatment the average is 4-6 months and for longer term treatment the average wear time is 18 months.

Can I eat a normal diet?

In essence, the answer is yes, but you may want to avoid certain hard or sticky foods. Sticky foods such as toffee can cause damage because it can stick to your tooth braces and cause tooth decay. Whereas harder foods such as boiled sweets, raw carrots, and ice cubes have been known to break teeth braces. In addition, avoiding foods which are high in sugar is a good idea because plaque can get lodged in between the braces making it harder to reach with a normal toothbrush. As a result in some cases, tooth decay can occur. That said, braces such as the Inman Aligner and Invisalign Manchester are designed to be removed every time you eat and drink. This means that wearers can continue to eat what they like provided they brush their teeth before placing the aligner back in the mouth.

How often do I need to visit the orthodontist once treatment is underway?

Once your braces in Manchester have been fitted you can expect to return to the practice every 4-6 weeks for adjustment. Even with removable aligners such as Invisalign, which are replaced every two weeks by the patient, they can still expect to return to the practice periodically for progress checks to ensure that teeth are moving where and how they should be. This way any problems or issues can be addressed early on before they become complicated to fix.

Do I have to wear a mouthful of metal?

The good news is that orthodontic Manchester treatment has evolved over the past decade or so and nowadays orthodontic manufacturers recognise the need for discretion. After all, not everyone wants to be seen sporting a mouth full of metal. Appliances such as lingual braces which are worn behind the teeth and the clear acrylic nature of Invisalign means that in these cases, the only people needing to know about your braces is you and your orthodontist. Ceramic braces using tooth coloured brackets and wiring are also popular and can help eradicate that metal smile.

So can I lead a normal life?

Absolutely yes! Modern day braces in Manchester allow you to do exactly that. There’s nothing to stop people from leading a normal healthy life as you should still be able to exercise and play a sport. That said for certain contact sports such as rugby or American football, it’s advisable for patients to wear a mouth guard. In addition (especially with removable braces) patients are advised to clean their teeth after every meal. However aside from that there really shouldn’t be a problem.

Will I need a retainer after treatment?

Yes! Retainers are an integral part of the overall treatment and they continue to keep the teeth straight once treatment is complete. Moreover, they help the muscles and tissues adapt to the new position so that the teeth don’t revert to their previous form. Depending on the degree and seriousness of your condition, your retainer may at first have to be worn permanently for several months, but after a period of time, it may only need to be worn on some occasions at night. Either way, your orthodontist will advise you on the best course of action when your treatment is coming to an end, so don’t worry!

Orthodontic Manchester Treatment - How Are Teeth Moved?

Orthodontic Manchester Treatment – How Are Teeth Moved?

It’s fair to say that most people know that teeth straightening in Manchester involves orthodontic Manchester treatment. Where typically a series of fixed brackets and wiring move teeth through applying sustained gentle force, Invisalign Manchester utilises a series or aligners (trays) to gradually move teeth. Either way teeth are realigned through force; but how exactly does this work? Let’s take a closer look.

You may be surprised to know that tooth movement is actually quite a complex process and it involves many different cells, tissues, and sensing signallers. When force is applied to the tooth root via the brackets and wiring of an orthodontic appliance, the tissues surrounding the bone and the cells within the tooth are stimulated to act.

Firstly pressure directed at the point of the orthodontic bracket applies both pressure and tension down at the tooth root. This then signals to cell sensors to take action. In this case cells surrounding the tooth (known as osteoplasts and osteoclasts) work to add and/or remove bone respectively, depending upon which direction the force is being applied. As such there’s a time lag from the point of pressure to the moment any tooth movement occurs. This delay in movement results in the way that the body adds or removes bone adjacent to the tooth. On most occasions when pressure is applied, the bone that’s closest to the tooth root isn’t moved initially. Instead bone some distance away from the root is removed at first.

Gradually after a period of 1-2 weeks the teeth straightening Manchester process starts to become more noticeable as the bone undergoes significant and more rapid changes. At this point bone is now being removed and being rebuilt closer to the new position of the tooth root, and as a result the next few weeks will see more noticeable changes. However this does depend heavily on the amount of force still active against the tooth.

So what does all of this mean for a patient seeking orthodontic Manchester treatment? In essence this has a bearing on the frequency of ongoing adjustment appointments. For example early on in the treatment the dentist may use a flexible tensioning wire with a longer activation time. This is so that gentle force is sustained over a longer period of time, and allows for easier stimulation, which in turn kick-starts the realignment process. With this in mind appointments might be somewhere between 6-12 weeks apart. However as the treatment progresses the wires will be less flexible and as a result more frequent activation is needed to maintain stimulation. This is why later on in the treatment appointments might be 2-6 weeks apart.

Ultimately the length of treatment does depend upon the severity of a patient’s condition. In addition there are also many variables that can shorten or lengthen treatments. These include patient co-operation (this applies to removable appliances such as Invisalign Manchester), speed of bone growth/regeneration, and speed of tooth movement. For this reason each treatment is different,

Fast Orthodontic Treatment – Does It work?

Fast Orthodontic Treatment – Does It work?

Whenever you seek orthodontic Manchester treatment it’s usually because you have a problem with the alignment of your teeth. This can be anything from a slightly misaligned or crooked tooth that  spoils the appearance of your smile, through to severe bite problems due to malocclusions. Fortunately there are a variety of treatments available ranging from Invisalign offers to super-fast orthodontic treatment.

While there has been much written about the wonders of Invisalign, there isn’t much information available about fast or accelerated orthodontics. In fact many people don’t even know that such a thing exists. With this in mind, let’s take a closer look.

First of all, what exactly is fast orthodontics?

You’re probably aware that conventional braces involve having a series of permanent brackets and wiring fitted to the teeth. You may have even worn braces as a child. If you did you’ll also know that it wasn’t a quick treatment. In fact on average children wear braces for around 18 months but depending upon the severity of the condition, this can be anywhere up to 30 months. While this might be okay for children, as adults it seems that we want everything faster and cheaper. Unfortunately, conventional brace appliances don’t fall into either category.

As adults, we also desire a healthier, better looking smile, but we don’t necessarily want to wait over 2 years to get it. This is where fast orthodontic treatment comes in. Over the last decade or so, orthodontic Manchester treatment has included treatments such as C-Fast, Six Month Smiles and Secret Smiles, all of which are designed to straighten teeth quickly. In fact some of which can do the job in a matter of weeks not months.

So how do they work?

In essence, they work in exactly the same way as most other fixed orthodontic appliances in that they move teeth by applying continual gentle force (whereas aligner style treatments, such as Invisalign, offers patients a more discreet treatment using invisible trays worn over the teeth).  Normally this is achieved via a series of self-tensioning wires that are threaded through small brackets, which in turn are attached to the teeth. The only real difference is that accelerated orthodontic treatments do it quicker. While this sounds great, there is a caveat and it’s this…….

When full term orthodontic appliances are in action they actually move the teeth relatively quickly. That’s the easy part. The harder part, and one that takes the most time, is moving the tooth root. This is because it takes a while for the bone structure to move and reform. Therefore, it’s impossible for fast orthodontic treatment to do this in just a few months. As such the teeth are moved, but the tooth roots aren’t. In addition, to cut down ‘appliance time’ even more, accelerated orthodontic treatment concentrates only on the upper and lower front teeth which are visible when you smile. So that’s the trade off!

Of course you might argue that speedy orthodontic treatments only do half a job and I guess you could say that this is true. As such they certainly wouldn’t be beneficial for a patient with more severe orthodontic issues. That said they are ideal for those patients who have mild orthodontic problems and are looking for a quick cosmetic fix. It may be that they have a crooked or flared tooth that spoils their smile; or alternatively they have a slight tooth gap and want to look their best before an upcoming event, such as a job interview, a family gathering, or even a date. Whatever the reason, these people are looking for a speedy cosmetic solution and fast orthodontic treatment gives them exactly this.

So in answer to the question in the title – “Does fast orthodontics work?” The answer is that provided a patient is concerned purely about the cosmetic side of straightening teeth, and is aware that it will only work on the visible upper and lower front teeth, then absolutely YES!

If you’d like to find out more about fast orthodontic treatment, or what longer treatments such as Invisalign offers, then contact our orthodontic Manchester practice at Church Road. Teeth Straightening Manchester – What Are The Methods Used?

Teeth Straightening Manchester – What Are The Methods Used?

If you’re seeking teeth straightening in Manchester it pays to speak to an orthodontic Manchester practice. At our smiles dental Manchester clinic we know how to match the right treatment with your needs and/or requirements. With this in mind, what are the types of treatment used?

Fast orthodontics

Otherwise known as accelerated or short-term orthodontics, fast orthodontic treatments are designed to focus their attention on the upper and lower front teeth which are visible when you smile. Treatment times range from a few weeks through to six months and are perfect for those looking for an aesthetic, quick fix solution. Brands such as Six Month Smiles, C-Fast, Secret Smiles and the removable Inman Aligner are perfect examples of quick orthodontic Manchester treatments.

Removable Aligners

While the majority of brace systems are permanently attached to the teeth for the duration of the treatment, there are a few which are specifically designed to be removed by the patient on a daily basis. Orthodontic appliances such as the Inman Aligner and Invisalign allow the patient to remove them for specific tasks such as eating, drinking, and brushing the teeth. This is done to maintain better oral hygiene, but it also means that the patient has the freedom to choose when and where they wear them. Removable aligners can ether be short term treatments (in the case of the Inman Aligner) or full term treatments (in the case of Invisalign).

Full term brace systems

When it comes to teeth straightening, Manchester patients may be looking for a longer term treatment to fully restore both the function and aesthetics of their bite. With this in mind, it’s possible to choose from a wide range of what are known as ‘full-term’ treatments. These include traditional metal ‘bracket and wiring’ style braces, discreet ceramic-style braces, lingual braces which are worn at the back of the teeth, and (as mentioned above) removable Invisalign aligners. Treatments last on average 18 months but can be completed in as little as 12 months or as long as 36 months, depending upon the degree of the problem.

If it sounds a little confusing, then don’t worry. At our Smiles Dental Manchester practice patients are in safe and experienced hands. We’ll help you find the right orthodontic appliance to suit both your needs and requirements. Whether you simply want to straighten your teeth after failing to wear a  previous retainer or are looking for a quick fix solution to correct a crooked tooth, you can count on us. Teeth Straightening Manchester – 7 Benefits of Straight Teeth

If you’ve recently visited the dentist you might have been told that you need orthodontic Manchester treatment. While it’s fair to say that wearing braces in Manchester can be a lengthy process, teeth straightening Manchester has multiple benefits, many of which are health related. With this in mind, let’s take a closer look at some of them.

Straighter teeth help to prevent major health issues

Did you know that having straighter teeth can reduce your chances of heart disease, a stroke, or diabetes? It’s true! Crooked teeth are difficult to clean and can harbour bacteria. If the bacteria isn’t treated or eradicated it can lead to serious conditions such as those listed above.

Straighter teeth means healthier gums

When teeth are straighter the gums fit more securely around the teeth. This creates a stronger defense barrier against the possibility of periodontal (severe gum) disease. Conversely when teeth are crooked or overcrowded they don’t sit perfectly against the gums and as a result the gums can be prone to attack from bacteria. Problem gums are normally identified by an inflamed/reddened appearance.

Straighter teeth prevents excess wear

When a patient suffers from crooked or overcrowded teeth it can lead to an inefficient chewing action causing excess wear to adjacent teeth. After undergoing a period of orthodontic Manchester treatment, straighter teeth means that proper bite function is restored.

Straighter teeth reduces the risk of accidents

Protruding or crooked teeth are often exposed making them far more likely to be chipped, cracked, or broken in the event of an accident.

Straighter teeth prevents TMJD problems

When teeth aren’t straight they place excess stress on the gums and bone that supports them. This can often led to a painful condition known as TMJD. Temporo-Mandibular Joint Disorder is the dysfunction of the muscles used in the chewing process, the symptoms of which are usually chronic headaches, neck pain, or face/jaw pain. Thankfully orthodontic treatment such as braces Manchester can straighten teeth, therefore easing the causes of TMJD and lessening any pain.

Teeth straightening Manchester improves overall dental health

Crooked teeth can be the catalyst that causes gum disease which can attack and undermine other healthy teeth if left untreated. Ultimately periodontal disease can cause bleeding gums and mouth sores and eventually lead to tooth loss.

Teeth straightening improves confidence and self-esteem

Mental health plays an important part in our overall health. A wide range of studies have shown that by having a great looking smile, it not only increases self confidence and boosts self esteem, but ultimately it can dramatically improve our mental health.

If you’d like to find out more about how orthodontic Manchester treatment can improve your overall health then contact Church Road Dental and Cosmetics. We offer a wide range of discreet teeth straightening Manchester treatments ranging from traditional braces Manchester, through to contemporary state-of-the-art Invisalign aligners. Inman Aligner Before And After – Why Pictures Are Important

Inman Aligner Before And After – Why Pictures Are Important

If you’re a patient looking for orthodontic Manchester treatment you’re going to want to do your homework. You’re going to want to read testimonials of successful treatments in order to find the right system for you. What’s more, you’re going to want proof that the system you choose works. One way dentists can do this is through picture case studies. So what do we mean?

Let’s say you stumble across two rival dental websites. Both are local orthodontists and both have good information on relevant treatments. One has a lingual braces blog detailing everything you need to know about the treatment and the other also has a blog. However, this time it contains an actual case study complete with Inman Aligner before and after pictures. This is a real life patient and bone-fide proof that the actual system works. What’s more, given this information you may be more inclined to want to find out more about the practice and the procedure itself.

It’s not just the patient that lingual braces or Inman Aligner before and after images benefit. They also help any local dentist stand out from the competition too. For any orthodontic Manchester practice, success is measured in smiles, or rather – by delivering the perfect smile. There’s no better way to share that success with other prospective patients than by putting before and after treatment pictures on the practice website. Not only does it show potential patients the dentist’s ability as a great orthodontist, but it builds trust with those who visit the site and/or are looking for treatment.

Another reason that real pictures tend to work better is that surveys have proven that anyone looking for treatment will more than likely be drawn to real results with photographic evidence rather than smiley-faced stock photos. They capture the readers’ attention not only via great visuals but also because of their authenticity. A lingual braces blog therefore, complete with before and after pictures of proper case studies is going to attract the attention of anyone looking for discreet braces.

For patients, adult orthodontic Manchester treatments can be a daunting prospect. As such Invisalign, lingual braces or Inman Aligner before and after pictures have the ability to add a dose of healthy realism which most people can relate to.

To find out more about our wide range of adult orthodontic treatment contact Church Road Dental and Cosmetics on 0161 660 1218 today and  take the first steps towards restoring that great looking smile.

Orthodontic Manchester Treatment – Am I Too Old To Get It

Orthodontic Manchester Treatment – Am I Too Old To Get It?

There’s a general consensus that those who seek orthodontic Manchester treatment are of a younger generation, and even those who choose adult orthodontics are still at a relatively young age. While it’s true that brace systems work particularly well on children the fact is that healthy teeth can be moved at any age. So are you ever too old for braces? Let’s take a closer look…

At our Hulme orthodontics practice we tell patients that most smiles dental Manchester treatments aren’t necessarily about age. Instead the deciding vote often boils down to 3 main factors. These are:

  • The current state of your periodontal (dental/gum) health
  • The current state of your overall health
  • The type of treatment you need

Let’s take a closer look at each in turn…

Periodontal health

Gum disease for example which leads to bone loss is more prevalent in adults than in teenagers and/or young adults. This consideration is important because for effective orthodontics to work, teeth are gently moved within the bone that supports them. If orthodontic treatment is being carried out at the same time as progressive periodontal disease, treatment can aggravate the problem and make it worse. While bone loss isn’t a complete deal breaker when it comes to orthodontic Manchester treatment, it’s essential that any periodontal problems are brought under control before any treatment starts.

Medical conditions

Certain medical conditions too aren’t always conducive to smiles dental Manchester treatments. Problems such as bleeding disorders, uncontrollable diabetes and heart valve disease may be problematic when undergoing any type of orthodontic treatment. In addition certain drugs used for help with conditions such as osteoporosis and arthritis can make tooth movement difficult. Finally lifestyle choices such as smoking can have a tendency to dry out the mouth quickly. While this can be overcome normally, prolonged mouth dryness can make the wearing of braces uncomfortable.  Whether you seek Hulme orthodontics or go elsewhere, we strongly recommend that you tell your dentist if you have any medical conditions or indeed smoke, so that they can carry out a proper treatment plan taking into consideration these factors.

Type of problem

Another issue that impacts on orthodontic treatments is the degree and type of the problem. For example, if you have an over or underbite then this could be skeletal related. In a full-grown adult this may require corrective surgery as the problems doesn’t always lie with the teeth alone.

The main point to take from this is that when it comes to a healthy happy smile and straightening teeth in particular, there is no age cut-off point. You could be a healthy 60 year old with no underlying issues, just as you could be a 20 year old with severe gum disease. So if you need further advice on any type of smiles dental Manchester treatment, or any orthodontic Manchester treatment, contact our Hulme orthodontics practice at Church Road Dental and talk to Shi Karim and the team. What Does The Inman Aligner Cost UK Patients?

Inman Aligner Treatment For Orthodontics – How Does It Work?

If you suffer from crooked, gapped, or misaligned teeth then you might be referred to an experienced orthodontic Manchester dentist for help. They can suggest a number of ways to help you achieve a great looking smile; one of them being Inman aligner treatment. But what exactly is it and how does it work?

When a smile dentist Manchester suggests the Inman Aligner you might be surprised to learn that it isn’t like your typical orthodontic brace system. For starters unlike many other types of braces it’s designed to be removable by the patient so that they can eat, drink, and clean teeth, without obstruction. Secondly, it does away with the traditional brackets and wiring in favour of sprung loaded bows which gently push and pull the teeth back into position. Ideally it’s used as a stand alone treatment but it can also be used prior to other cosmetic options such as teeth whitening, veneers, or cosmetic bonding.

So how does it work?

Unlike other brace systems Inman Aligner treatment utilises nickel titanium springs known as bows which push and pull the teeth back into the correct position. It’s designed to concentrate its efforts on the upper and lower front teeth that are visible when you smile. For this reason it won’t be a recommended course of treatment for those with more underlying teeth problems. That said, the Inman Aligner can offer the perfect solution for those with mild to moderate alignment problems who are looking to improve their smile quickly, perhaps for an upcoming event.

So how quick is it?

Your orthodontic Manchester dentist will have a better idea of how long your treatment will take when they examine your teeth closer. However as a general rule of thumb, treatment takes somewhere between 12 and 26 weeks to complete. When you compare it to conventional brace systems that can take between 2 and 3 years to complete, that’s fast! That said a speedy treatment does rely on the patient wearing the aligner for somewhere between 16 and 20 hours a day, preferably the latter. The bottom line is that if patients forget to put it in or don’t wear it for the required number of hours, treatment time will often take significantly longer. Ideally it should only be taken out when eating, drinking, and brushing the teeth, and should always be worn when sleeping. However the idea is that the patient has full control over their treatment.

If you’d like to know more about how Inman Aligner treatment can help you, or you would like to speak to an orthodontic Manchester dentist about ways in which they can help you to improve your smile, contact smile dentist Manchester at Church Road Dental and Cosmetics. We invite you to book a free no obligation consultation with Dr Shi Karim and the team to discuss your options. In doing so you’ll have a clearer idea of the types of treatments available, allowing you to make a fully informed dental decision. Clear View Braces - Why Are They So Popular

What Are Clear View Braces And Why Are They So Popular?

When we hark back to orthodontic Manchester treatment of old then the first thing that may spring to mind is those metallic ‘train track’ style braces that many of us wore as children. They were uncomfortable, cumbersome, and unattractive. Thankfully things have moved on somewhat and nowadays adults looking to have braces have far more options open to them. One of these options is clear view braces. So what exactly are they?

Even though orthodontic treatments are more comfortable, lightweight, and varied than their predecessors, many still remain noticeable. For adults who would normally be expected to wear braces for 12 months or more depending upon the severity of their condition, it’s often enough to stop some from even considering it. However clear view brace systems such as Invisalign braces UK are different.

As the name suggests, because they’re made from clear plastic rather than metal, they are difficult to see when you smile. For many adults who already feel pretty self conscious about their appearance, it means that they can now happily undergo orthodontic treatment knowing that what they’re wearing is about as discreet as orthodontic Manchester treatments get.

But that’s not the only way that clear view braces such as Invisalign braces UK differ…

Orthodontic treatment such as Invisalign uses an aligner style treatment rather than the conventional bracket and wiring system. This means that instead of using brackets which are secured to the teeth with wiring running though them to push or pull the teeth back into position, they utilise a series of bespoke trays known as aligners. As the aligner is placed over the teeth it gently coerces them into a pre-planned position after which it’s time to swap that aligner for the next in the series. Each aligner is sized differently and after 9-18 months the teeth should be perfectly straight.

The advantages of wearing clear view braces such as these are plentiful. Firstly unlike the conventional bracket and wiring style they’re completely and easily removable. In fact they’re designed to be removed when eating or cleaning the teeth to avoid any food particles being caught. Secondly, because they’re made of a clear plastic and not metal, there are no sharp pieces that can wear away at the gums and tongue. Finally, because each aligner has to be custom made, patients get to see what their teeth will look like using computer aided design. In other words they’ll have a snap shot into the future of their brand new smile.

So are clear view braces for everyone?

In a word yes and no! Invisalign braces UK are designed to treat many orthodontic problems and as a result they’ll suit a wide range of patients. However because each aligner has to be custom-made  they don’t come cheap. In some cases they can be 2 or 3 times the cost of conventional brace systems and what’s more, they can’t be purchased on the NHS.

That said, many orthodontic Manchester practices operate flexible payment systems where treatments can be paid for over a period of time rather than one upfront payment, so it might be worth speaking to your dentist if cost is the only stumbling block.

If you’d like to find out more about how clear view braces such as Invisalign braces UK can change your life then come and talk to Church Road Dental and Cosmetics. Our experienced team of orthodontists will make sure that you have the right treatment to suit your needs and requirements. To book a consultation contact us via our website at www.clearbracesmanchester.co.uk or contact us directly on  0161 660 1218 and take the first steps towards restoring your great looking smile once and for all.

Orthodontics Manchester – What's Life Like after Treatment

Orthodontics Manchester – What’s Life Like after Treatment

It can be pretty daunting knowing that you’re about to start a long term dental procedure such as orthodontic Manchester treatment. However when you get to the point where you’ve completed your orthodontics Manchester treatment and your braces can eventually come off, you should notice a huge difference in your smile. Not only that, you should also notice a difference in you and your life moving forwards. Let’s take a look at what that might be like.

You’ll be able to take better care of your teeth

As a smile dentist Manchester one of the first things we tell patients contemplating undergoing orthodontic treatment is that they’ll be able to take better care of their teeth. Let’s face it, when teeth are crooked and uneven, it can be difficult to brush and floss properly. Not only that, the nooks and crannies left when teeth are crooked makes it easier for food particles to become trapped. This can lead to a build up of plaque which in turn can ultimately lead to tooth decay.  Even though you mightn’t think so when you are wearing aligners or braces you will have healthier teeth.

You’ll have a healthier you!

You’ll probably be aware of the importance of oral hygiene for your teeth, but what you may not know is that successful orthodontic treatment in Manchester can not only aid your dental hygiene abilities, but can also mean a healthier you. There’s strong evidence to show that bacteria from severe gum disease for example can get into the blood stream causing an increased risk in heart disease, so by keeping your teeth in good healthy condition, it can also mean a healthier you

You’ll have way more confidence

Often when people suffer with missing, badly stained, or crooked teeth it can knock their confidence as they tend to hide their smile, and some even withdraw from social situations. Once your orthodontics Manchester treatment is complete and you can look in the mirror at your smile, it will fill you with confidence. What’s more, a great looking smile is undoubtedly more attractive and can also portray a certain level of confidence to others that you mightn’t necessarily have had previously.

You’ll be happier

Did you know that the more you smile the happier you become. According to research, when a person smiles more, even when they don’t particularly feel like it, they tend to score higher on a series of tests related to happiness. Clearly if you’ve just got back your great looking smile, then it’s likely you’re going to want to smile more anyway; and hey presto, a happier you emerges!

So there you have it – A fully restored smile can do so much for your health, your confidence, and your happiness so it’s no wonder why more and more people are seeking orthodontic Manchester treatment.
